It is easily the best 10X from this period I have in my collection. It is so sharp and color neutral with good definition to the edges, and perhaps, most importantly just like the Binuxit 8X30 just so remarkably comfortable to achieve focus and view.
The plan was to restore and sell it for a profit, but after using it just once I was unable to do so. A blessing for me, however, because considering its exceptional build and optical quality I was able to purchase it at a very low price. And for many collectors, worst of all, they are often found with a problem common to most pre-1963 Leitz binoculars - the leatherette covering is extremely brittle and prone to cracking and flaking off. Although the non-phase coated Trinovids could not optically match the superb Porro I binoculars they replaced, they were remarkably light-weight and compact and were a pleasure to hold with an eye-pleasing gracefulness to them which made them one the most ergonomically pleasing binoculars ever made (and the high prices they continue to fetch on eBay bear this out).

Leitz discontinued manufacture of all Porro I binoculars in 1963 upon the introduction on their revolutionary Trinovid series of roof prism binoculars. The Decimarit was introduced in 1937 and was made until 1959. The price of KOMZ 8x30 binoculars in the UK seems to be creeping up, I bought a nice one about a year ago for £20 (34) on auction, but it seems a lucky buy, they seem to end up going for nearer £30 or more now, so expect at least 40 to 50 for a fairly good one.

While my later Zeiss Jenna mult-icoated model is good, it is not as good as either the Leupold or Vortex models. I have found them to be excellent, very compact and light. I have used several Hensoldt-Wetzlar binoculars from the WW2 era and later. I can just about guarantee a superior binocular by going to a Leupold Yosemite in either 6x or 8x30 or the Vortex Raptor in 6.5x or 8.5x32 guises. I don't have any of the post war Hensholt/Wetzlar binoculars so I'm not going to be a lot of help.
